200cm x 148cm PInk & Blue Turkoman Kilim
Turkoman (also Turkmen) kilims are made by the nomadic Turkoman people, these are specifically made by the Olam people in Northern Afghanistan. They can also be found in North East Iran and Turkmenistan of course.
They are very strong and thicker than the Maymana kilims, with a raised profile, but unlike Maymana kilims are one sided due to the more dense nature of the weave (see photos).
This authentic Turkoman kilim showcases traditional craftsmanship with its striking palette of salmon pink, navy, grey, and blue.
Hand-woven from 100% wool using natural vegetable dyes, each colour has been achieved through time-honoured dyeing techniques that ensure lasting vibrancy and depth.
Produced under fair trade principles, this kilim supports artisan communities whilst delivering a genuinely unique textile with the character and irregularities that distinguish handmade pieces from mass production.
Any creases will drop out within a week or so.
