Turkoman (also Turkmen) kilims are made by the nomadic Turkoman people, these are specifically made by the Olam people in Northern Afghanistan. They can also be found in North East Iran and Turkmenistan of course.
They are very strong and thicker than the Maymana kilims, with a raised profile, but unlike Maymana kilims are one sided due to the more dense nature of the weave (see photos).
This 130cm x 85cm Turkoman kilim is expertly handcrafted using 100% sheep wool, dyed with natural vegetable pigments to ensure authentic colours in pinks, reds, green, turquoise and gold.
Each rug is produced under fairtrade principles, combining traditional techniques with ethical craftsmanship. Its durable weave makes it a lasting décor piece, while the natural materials offer both warmth and character. Ideal for those seeking a genuine, artisanal addition to their home.
